Ranji One-Day Trophy, 2006-07

Siddharth ton clinches thriller for Rajasthan

Cricinfo staff

February 20, 2007

Rajasthan 220 for 8 (Joshi 107) beat Vidarbha 219 (Shitoot 62, Acharya 68) by 2 wickets
Scorecard

Siddharth Joshi carried his bat with a fine 146-ball 107 to guide Rajasthan to a thrilling win over Vidarbha. Set to chase 220, Rajasthan were sitting pretty at 141 for 1 in the 34th over when two quick wickets fell and they slid to 145 for 3. 38 runs later another crisis came as, again, wickets fell in a bunch. A healthy 183 for 3 turned to a wobbly 184 for 6. But Rajasthan's depth in batting came to the rescue. Joshi added 23 runs with Afroz Khan and 12 runs with Rohit Jhalani to steer Rajasthan home. Harshal Shitoot and Madhusudan Acharya hit fifties to help Vidarbha post a fighting total.

Delhi 113 for 2 (Manhas 55, Dhawan 42*) beat Services111 (Sangwan 4-43, Nehra 3-16) by 8 wickets
Scorecard

Pradeep Sangwan starred on his debut with a four-wicket haul as Services were shot out for 111 before Delhi romped home to an eight-wicket win in 28.5 overs. Services were tottering at 55 for 9, after Sangwan and Ashish Nehra shared seven wickets between them, but made a partial recovery via a gritty last-wicket stand between Tahir Khan and Pankaj Kumar. However, it was not to prove enough as Delhi, despite losing Virender Sehwag for a first-ball duck, edging a catch to second slip, breezed home courtesy a 112-run partnership between Mithun Manhas and Shikhar Dhawan.

Punjab 168 for 3 (Mongia 97, Dharmani 44*) beat Himachal Pradesh 167 (Dogra 55, Gagandeep 4-20) by seven wickets
Scorecard

Gagandeep Singh's 4 for 26 restricted Himachal Pradesh to 167 before Dinesh Mongia hit a brisk 97 to take Punjab home at Mohali. HP were well-placed at 110 for 2, after Paras Dogra had added 64 runs with Sangram Singh, but Singh was run out, triggering a mini-collapse. Ishant Malhatra grabbed two wickets in 3 balls to reduce HP to 112 for 5, a position from which they never recovered. Ashok Thakur got rid of the Punjab openers cheaply but Mongia added 138 runs with Pankaj Dharmani to help the hosts register a facile win.

Haryana 234 beat J&K 198 (Kavaljit 60, Mishra 4-43) by 36 runs
Scorecard

Amit Mishra and Jitender Tarsemlal Billa shared seven wickets between them bowl Haryana to a 36-run victory over Jammu & Kashmir at Ludhiana. Sachin Rana hit 42 while Vishal Sahni scored 38, in the middle order, and nearly all the top order batsman got starts but none converted as Haryana reached a fighting total. Billa prised out the openers, Mishra started harassing the middle order as J&K stuttered in the chase. Only Kavaljit Singh and Dhruv Mahajan, to an extent, kept the fight up but once Singh became the seventh wicket to fall at 176, it was all but over for J&K.
