Japan profile2004 Wisden Almanack reviewThe 2003 season was a combination of progress and frustration. The Fuji City Council approved the development of a ground to be used exclusively for cricket, and two suitable grounds were also found near Tokyo. Two teams with predominantly Japanese players and management (Millennium CC and Wyverns CC) dominated their respective divisions for 2003. The frustrating aspect however, was the weather. Dark clouds seemed to roll in every Friday afternoon, causing about half the Kanto Cricket League games to be washed out or rescheduled. Millennium CC and Giants CC were declared joint champions after the final too, was washed out. Fuji Far East won the women’s title. Mark McTamney |
