Profile
Part of the World Cup squad in South Africa 2003, he featured in the opening two matches against India and England, but lost his place before returning to take 4 for 42 against Namibia in the Netherlands' only World Cup win to date. Four years on he is now an established member of the side and, although facing competition from Mohammad Kashif, his experience against some of the worlds major sides has aided his development. The assault from Shahid Afridi at the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 when he was clobbered for 5 sixes in 8 balls taught him a valuable lesson and now the Dutch bowlers have learnt to contain rather that try to attack batsmen in the shorter form of the game. A prodigious spinner of the ball with excellent control, the Dutch coaching staff believe he could play a significant role in the Caribbean during the 2007 Wold Cup. His career hit the buffers when he was banned for two years, one suspended, after failing a random drugs test in 2007. He is another who has come through the Dutch age groups and toured England with the Under-17 side in 1997. Alan Curr February 2007
