Lance Klusener has been banned for the first 45-over franchise match next season after being found guilty of dissent. A disciplinary hearing in Johannesburg on Wednesday ruled that Klusener, the Nashua Dolphins captain and allrounder, had contravened the South African board's Code of Conduct during his side's defeat to the Eagles on December 21 last year.
He was also found guilty of breaking Rule 1.4, which states that: "Participants shall not use crude or abusive language nor make offensive gestures to any other participant, official or spectator."
It's not the first time that Klusener has been banned for dissent. In 2004 he and Jon Kent were both suspended from a Kwa-Zulu Natal match and four years earlier, he was banned for four international matches following his verbal clash with the Zimbabwean allrounder Guy Whittall in a one-day match.
