 Profile

A modern-day journeyman, Shane Jurgensen played for Western Australia and Tasmania before winning a place at his home state Queensland. Jurgensen was one of the Bulls' most promising in the early 1990s, but the bowling stocks ahead of him forced him west in 1996 and then south-east for 2001-02. The first season with Tasmania was his best and included a hat-trick against New South Wales and 11 wickets, the most in a final, against the Bulls, who recruited him in 2003. Tall and powerful, Jurgensen, a national under-19 representative from 1993 to 1995, made only four Pura Cup appearances and figured in a handful of one-day games for Queensland before retiring after the 2006-07 season. He will now focus on his High Performance Cricket coaching business.
